The Daunte Wright and Kobe Dimock-Heilser Community Safety and Violence Prevention Implementation Committee (DKIC) was formed in compliance with (Resolution 2021-73). The implementation committee brought together community members and city staff to provide recommendations on key public safety changes in Brooklyn Center.

The committee first convened in March 2022 and formed two workgroups: Expanded Response and Policy. In addition to the committee’s meeting, there was also community engagement to ensure those most impacted by the negative interactions with public safety were included in the development of the recommendations. The committee finalized two public safety policy recommendations and presented them to the Brooklyn Center City Council on September 26th, 2022. Click here to view the complete presentation.
