Regulations

Brooklyn Center requires that certain types of businesses or activities be licensed to operate in the city. A license is a grant of special privilege, not a contract, between the City and private individuals or corporations.

A license is a regulatory device to ensure compliance with established rules and regulations governing a specific occupation, profession, commercial trade, or other activity. City ordinances defining and describing the requirements of certain business licenses are prescribed for the health, safety, and welfare of the residents of Brooklyn Center. Most business licenses have a one-year license period. The City Council sets license fees by resolution and fees are incorporated into a City Fee Schedule.
