The City of Brooklyn Center is a first-ring suburb of the Twin Cities metropolitan area and is one of the best positioned, and most accessible communities in the region. Most of the City’s neighborhoods were developed in the Post-World War II era, between the 1950's and 1970's, with the community almost entirely built out by the 1980's. The City’s population is 33,782 with approximately 11,048 households.
The community is highly accessible by car to the larger region from Interstates 94/694, and Highways 252 and 100, and from within the City by an extensive network of county and local roadways. For those utilizing public transit, Brooklyn Center Transit Center, located off Bass Lake Road (County Road 10), is one of the busiest boarding locations in the entire Metro Transit system and offers Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service via the C and proposed D lines. The City is further served by numerous local routes.
For those looking to explore, the City is home to 24 local parks, Centerbrook Golf Course (9-hole), and accessible to not only North Mississippi Regional Park, but three regional trails: Shingle Creek, Twin Lakes, and North Mississippi.
