Can I report a crime here and remain anonymous?

Crime Stoppers of Minnesota provides a safe place for citizens to provide anonymous information about crime and fugitives. Brooklyn Center Police partners with Crime Stoppers to investigate anonymous tips they receive. If the information you provided leads to a felony arrest, you may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 through Crime Stoppers.

Your contact with Crime Stoppers is anonymous. Information can be shared with Crime Stoppers via phone, online, or through a mobile app.

Do I need a permit to solicit or peddle goods in the City of Brooklyn Center?
A solicitor's or peddler's permit is not required from the city. However, it is recommended that you provide the information listed below to the Brooklyn Center Police Department on your company's letterhead:
- Contact number
- Dates and times
- License plate numbers of vehicles used
- Names of the solicitors
- Photo ID for a representative of the company and each individual that will be soliciting or peddling in Brooklyn Center
Out-of-state persons must contact Hennepin County at 612-348-8240 for a transient merchant permit. Food merchants must contact the Minnesota Department of Agriculture at 651-201-6315 for food license requirements.
Do I need to obtain a license for my dog?

Licenses are not required for pets in the City of Brooklyn Center. However, ID / information tags are required by city ordinance and can be purchased at pet shops or some veterinarian offices. A person who owns, harbors, or keeps a dog over 6 months old within the city must securely attach an identification tag or plate to the dog's collar so that it can be readily seen. The tag or plate must contain the name and home telephone number of the owner or other person who is keeping the dog. The identification tag or plate must be worn by the dog at all times when it is off the owner's or keeper's property.

Fingerprint services are provided to Brooklyn Center residents at our facility located at 6645 Humboldt Avenue N, Brooklyn Center, MN 55430.

Fingerprint Card(s) Needed

Brooklyn Center Police Department offers civil fingerprinting services for residents of the city twice per week on the standard FD-258 FBI approved fingerprint card.

Blank Fingerprint Card(s) Received

If an employer or organization has given you a blank fingerprint card, bring that with you. Do not write on, or sign the card before you come. We can only print on an actual fingerprint card.

Service Days and Hours

Tuesday 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.
Thursday 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Please note that fingerprinting is done in the jail area of the police department. In the event an arrestee or interview is taking place in the jail, or police staff are unavailable due to an emergency, fingerprinting services may be delayed.

Cost

The cost of each fingerprint card is $10.
Payment method: Cash only - exact change. No checks, debit, or credit cards are accepted.

The individual being fingerprinted must have a valid and current government-issued ID with a Brooklyn Center address.

Items not allowed within the jail area while being fingerprinted:

Firearms
Weapons and other sharp objects
Contraband
Strollers

Fingerprinting Process

Fingerprinting can take up to 30 minutes. Your wait could be longer depending on the number of people in line.

Prepare Your Fingers

Remove all rings and clean your fingers of any henna or lotion.
Do not come in if you have wounds that are still healing on your hands or fingers; fingerprinting services will not be provided.
