Sergeant Johnson has been serving the Brooklyn Center Community since 2013. He began his law enforcement career with Brooklyn Center as a Community Service Officer (CSO); in 2015 he became a sworn Police Officer; and in 2022 he was promoted to the position of Patrol Sergeant. Throughout his tenure with Brooklyn Center, he has served the community in a variety of additional capacities, including but not limited to an Explorer Advisor, a mentor to Community Service Officers and Officers, a Use of Force Instructor, a member of the SWAT team, a member of the Street Crimes Unit, and additional committees.

 

Sergeant Johnson earned a Bachelor Degree in Law Enforcement from St. Mary’s University located in Minnesota.  He also served in the U.S. Army, retiring after nearly 10 years of service. 

Officer Jordan Lund

Officer Jordan Lund began serving the Brooklyn Center Community in 2009 as a Community Service Officer (CSO) and in 2010 became a sworn Police Officer. Officer Lund has served in the capacities of Explorer Advisor, Use of Force Instructor, SWAT team member, Field Training Officer, and an Investigator throughout the course of his law enforcement career.

Officer Lund holds an Associate Degree in Law Enforcement from Alexandria Technical College located in Minnesota. 

 

Detective Dan Lindstrom

Detective Dan Lindstrom joined the Brooklyn Center Police Department in December 2021. His law enforcement career has spanned roughly 30 years. Throughout his career he has served in a variety of capacities including Patrol Officer, Sergeant, Detective, Lieutenant, and Deputy Chief. The amount of knowledge and experience Brooklyn Center gained when he joined our agency was tremendous.

Dan was raised in the Twin Cities Metro and graduated from Osseo Senior High School. He attended Capella University and received a Bachelors Degree. Following receipt of his four-year degree, Dan attended SKILLS in the State of Kansas, eventually taking the Minnesota POST reciprocity exam to become licensed in Minnesota.

Dan stated that at about age 14 or 15 he joined the Brooklyn Center Police Explorers. After joining the program, he lost all doubt of becoming a cop – he loved it! To this day he remembers the names of 90% of the officers he worked with. He also credits the program with never having a desire to have a rebellious streak since he knew it was tough to be hired as an officer at that time.

Officer Francisco Martinez, Jr.

Officer Martinez is bilingual in Spanish, was raised in St. Paul and graduated from Highland Park Senior High in St. Paul. He chose to enlist in the US Marine Corps. just prior to September 11, 2001.

Francisco attended American Military University while enlisted where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Homeland Security.  He has since earned his Associate of Applied Sciences/SKILLS and recently passed the MN POST Board exam granting him the ability to be a licensed peace officer in the State of Minnesota. He has an extensive volunteer history with the Devil Pups Program, which is comparable in certain respects to Police Explorers.

Throughout his Marine Corps. military career, Francisco was deployed to locations of Romania, Afghanistan and Iraq (4x). He received numerous awards and recognition throughout his service. Since enlisting he moved up the ranks to Operations Chief of Minneapolis and has since Honorably Discharged/Retired after 20 years of service. He is married with six children and enjoys mixed martial arts, working out, boxing and spending time with his family.

Officer Nhia Thor

Officer Nhia Thor began serving the Brooklyn Center Police Department in 2021. He began his law enforcement career in 2015 as a Cadet at the Fresno City College Police Academy. He was then hired as a Deputy with the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office and he also served as a Police Officer with the Chowchilla Police Department. 

Nhia has been a Crisis Intervention Team Coach, Domestic Abuse Response Team, Defensive Tactics Instructor, Firearm Instructor, Peer Support team member, and Recruiter through the course of his law enforcement career. 

Prior to law-enforcement, Nhia served active duty as a Sergeant in the Marine Corps, specialized as a Fitness Instructor at the Fresno State University Recreation Center, Drug/Alcohol Counselor at WestCare Foundation, and an Employment Specialist at the Veteran Rehabilitation Specialist Inc.  In 2012, Officer Nhia Thor earned his Bachelor Degree in Criminology from Fresno State University, CA.

Kelsey Lindberg, Records Technician

As a Record Technician for the Brooklyn Center Police Department, Kelsey is given a diverse myriad of tasks. One of her main tasks is report processing. This includes transcribing officers’ reports in a timely and accurate manner, entering the data to create a report, uploading any media associated with the incident, and dispersing the finished report with its supporting material to the next appropriate person in the process chain.

Having good interpersonal skills is also essential because she interacts with not just her coworkers, but also members of our community and other individuals as well. People call with many questions regarding obtaining a police report, how to release an impounded vehicle, how to pick up property, questions that may include sensitive topics, and many others. Speaking of report requests, fulfilling report requests is another task that occurs daily.

These are a few of the general tasks that Records Technicians have, but we also have individual tasks assigned to us as well. A few of Kelsey's assigned tasks include managing the court calendar, processing online citizen reporting, curating and developing training materials for the Support Services Division (aka. "Records"), processing body and squad camera footage requested by parties outside our police department, property processing, and as I learn I obtain more tasks.
