2023 Asphalt Sealing Maintenance
The City of Brooklyn Center is performing asphalt maintenance on city streets shown in map below.

The contractor will be posting no parking signs ahead of the work, so residents will be notified the project is happening.

Your car will be towed, at your expense, if it is parked on-street during the project.

If you have a lawn sprinkling system that sprays or drains onto the street, turn it off on the day of the street work and the day after. Additionally, avoid discharging your sump pump onto the street during maintenance time.

Asphalt Maintenance Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this product being applied to my road? Reclamite, the agent used on the road, extends the pavement’s life by sealing it. It reduces the need for disruptive street repairs.

How long does the application take? The work typically takes one to two hours. Afterward, the road will be reopened.

When can I drive on the road? You can drive through the work area, but please go slowly and stick to the treated area with sand/screenings. Avoid driving onto your driveway until the contractor finishes applying the lime/sand to prevent tracking it. Any temporary markings will fade naturally within a few weeks.

When will the road be cleaned up? The road will be swept three days after the application. If you drive cautiously and at reduced speeds, it's unlikely that any material will transfer to your vehicle. The product is non-corrosive and won't damage your vehicle. You can safely remove it using a bug and tar remover from a local auto parts store.
