Police Explorer Open House / Informational Meeting

Know a teen or young adult interested in the field of Law Enforcement?
Police Explorer Open House / Informational Meeting
Sunday, October 2 at 5:00 pm

 

Explorer Meeting immediately following until 7 pm. Visitors are welcome; parents/guardians are encouraged to attend our meetings.
Have you ever wondered what a Police Explorer does? The Brooklyn Center Police Explorer Program is a job exploration program for teens and young adults ages 14-21 who may be interested in learning more about the field of Law Enforcement.

Who can join?

The meetings are held at the Brooklyn Center Police Department every Sunday evening typically from 6:00—8:00 pm beginning in September until the end of April.

Members will learn about:

- Leadership
- Officer Safety
- Proper Procedures
- Variety of Laws and Ordinances
- Training for the Regional Competitions 

Regional Competitions

Every year, the explorers prepare for regional competitions. We will help you prepare for the 13 different events that you may draw during these competitions, including:
- Bomb Threats
- Burglary in Progress
- Crime Prevention
- Crime Scenes
- Domestics
- Firearm Use On-duty
- First Aid
- Hostage Negotiations
- Interview and Interrogation
- Search and Arrest
- Traffic Stops
- Traffic Accidents
- White Collar Crimes
 

Fundraisers & Events

We also organize fundraisers to defer some of the fees of the different events that we participate in such as the competitions. We assist with a lot of community events each year including, but not limited to:
- Greeting guests, serving cake and refreshments at the Police and Citizen Awards Ceremony.
- Assisting with Crime Prevention fundraising event preparation.
- Visiting Night to Unite neighborhood parties.
- Providing traffic control for Brooklyn Center and nearby community events and parades.
- Participating in the Annual State Police Explorers Conference.
- Helping bridge the gap between the community and our police department.
