The Community Safety and Violence Prevention Implementation Committee will make recommendations on the implementation of the Daunte Wright and Kobe Dimlock-Heisler Community Safety and Violence Prevention Act, including ordinances, resolutions, policies, guidelines, and other recommendations. You can read or download the Act here: https://www.ci.brooklyn-center.mn.us/home/showpublisheddocument/1665/637683298143730000.
The committee is open to all residents of Brooklyn Center, as well as other local, state, and national experts in public health-oriented approaches to community safety. Members must share a commitment to creating a safer, healthier, more just, and thriving community, and a commitment to creating a diversity of responses to community safety needs that do not rely solely on armed enforcement officers.
The time commitment for committee members is expected to be approximately 5-10 hours per month. There will also be an opportunity for applicants not selected for the Implementation Committee to serve on subcommittees when they are created.
