Porches
On April 25, 2016, the City Council approved front yard decks and porches, as part of the Active Living Policy. The Active Living Policy, which was adopted in 2013 by the City Council to promote and encourage an engaging environment in the neighborhoods for residents.
Would you like to add a porch or front deck to your home? To get started please complete a Building Permit Application and submit plans to the Community Development Department for review and approval. If you have any questions please call the Community Development Department at (763) 569-3330.

Recommendations by the Planning and Housing Commissions:
To allow a 10-foot setback encroachment in the front yard setback for any new "enclosed porch" or "unenclosed porch", with a size limitation of 200 sq. ft. while front decks are limited to a 6-foot encroachment and size limitation of 100 sq. ft.
